Terwillegar Towne: A New Community Filled With Charm

Despite being one of the relatively new neighbourhoods, Terwillegar Towne has a lot to offer. Resembling a small town within a city, the area allows residents to create a tight communal spirit with the help of walking paths.

Young families and professionals make up most of the local population. In fact, the median age is around 38. Being one of the seven neighbourhoods that are part of the Terwillegar Heights Servicing Concept Design Brief (SCDB), development in Terwillegar Towne only started in the late 1990s. That is why private dwellings come in different forms.

While most structures are single-detached, there are also semi-detached, multi-story apartments, and even row houses. Locals enjoy green spaces. There tree-lined roadways, small parks, and open field spaces. There is even a lake that people can admire while walking around. The town square provides convenience for residents. There is a convenience store, a postal office, and many more amenities.

Another feature that Terwillegar Towne residents enjoy is The Terwillegar Community RecCentre. It has an arena complex and recreation centre complex. The facility offers fitness classes, an aquatic centre, and various youth programs. It is also home to state-of-the-art equipment.

Within the community, there are the public elementary school Esther Starkman School and the Catholic elementary school Monsignor William Irwin Catholic School. Other designated schools include the Lillian Osborne High School, a public school. Mother Margaret Mary High School and Archbishop Joseph McNeil School are Catholic schools. Getting health-related services can be done in nearby hospitals, such as the Grey NunsCommunity Hospital and Misericordia Community Hospital.

There are also available services on the Town Centre Boulevard, Rabbit Hill Road, and Currents of Windermere. Another unique feature in the neighbourhood is the Terwillegar Towne Residents Association. It has a Board of Directors composed of volunteers that aim to ensure that the community’s concerns and needs are met. Property owners within the boundaries of Terwillegar Towne automatically become members of the said association.
